Literacy and Numeracy: Supporting Our Newest Griffins
We are excited to welcome our newest students, the grade 8s, and want to share some of the initiatives we have implemented to support their learning and belonging at the school.
Our grade 8 teachers, along with our Literacy and Numeracy lead, have been diligently collecting data to identify general trends among our grade 8 students in literacy. After analyzing this information, we have collaboratively developed grade-wide initiatives aimed at enhancing student learning.
By closely examining this data, we can identify individual strengths and areas for growth, allowing us to tailor our teaching approaches and support systems. This personalized attention helps students feel valued and understood, which enhances their overall school experience. When students see that their needs are being met, they are more likely to develop a sense of belonging and connection to our school community.
We look forward in continuing this journey and look forward to working together to support our students’ growth and belonging. Attached below are some of the trends that we have observed and collected as a grade 8 team. We have also included the next steps as a collective grade 8 team of teachers in providing support to our newest Griffins. We are hoping that this collective effort will enhance the sense of belonging and connectedness amongst our grade 8s.
