JAN 12/25 UBC STEM Fellowship Research Exploration Opportunity (REO) Program. Deadline
Our program is open to all grade 9 - 12 students, but particularly target students from communities traditionally underrepresented in STEM pursuits. Our definition of underrepresented will be based on self-identification and includes women in tech, LGBTQ+ youth, Indigenous youth, racial minorities, and youth residing in rural or low-income areas.
This program will take place during the first week of Spring Break 2025 (March 17th - 21st). Students will engage in activities including tours of research facilities, introductions to lab techniques and experiments, shadowing of lab personnel, and attending lab meetings, seminars, and faculty presentations. They will be mentored by graduate students (and participating lab members) and will be able to learn about the projects that their mentors are working on. There is no cost to participate in the program.
REO is hosted by UBC STEM Fellowship, a student-run organization that provides a platform for youth to connect with professionals, engage in research, and improve skills for career success. Our goal is to help students explore the diverse career paths in STEM fields.
