A reminder of the importance of Traffic Safety - Crossing Streets close to RC Palmer
The safety of our students is our top priority. As we begin the final week of classes before Spring Break, I'd like to address some concerns regarding student drop-off and pick-up procedures, particularly concerning street crossing.
We've observed an increase in students crossing streets outside of designated crosswalks and traffic lights, which poses a significant safety risk. We understand the rush during these times, but we must work together to ensure all children are crossing safely.
Here's how you can help:
Utilize designated crosswalks and traffic lights:
Please reinforce with your children the importance of always crossing at marked crosswalks or traffic lights. This is the safest way to navigate our busy streets.
Consider alternative drop-off/pick-up locations:
Consider alternative drop-off/pick-up locations:
If possible, consider dropping off or picking up your child a short distance from the school. This can alleviate congestion and encourage walking, while also allowing your child to use designated crossing areas.
Avoid peak times:
If your schedule allows, consider dropping off or picking up your child slightly before or after the busiest times. This can reduce congestion and create a safer environment.
Discuss street safety with your children:
Take a moment to talk to your children about the dangers of crossing streets outside of designated areas. Emphasize the importance of looking both ways and waiting for traffic to come to a complete stop.
Patience and awareness:
During drop-off and pick-up times, please exercise patience and be mindful of pedestrians and other vehicles.
We understand that traffic congestion can be challenging, but the safety of our students must always come first. Your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines is greatly appreciated.
We are committed to working with you to create a safe and supportive environment for all our students.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our students safe.
