Three awards valued at $750 each will be distributed. Jean Ciriani was the Director of Communications at the BCSTA until she passed away in 2009. In memory of her contributions to education and the execution of public policy her family and friends raised the funds necessary to establish this scholarship in her name. Jean had a lifelong interest in communication of public policy and especially public policy related to education. Throughout her career she used her gift for communication to further the functioning of our public institutions. Jean had a passion for the citizens of our communities participating in well-functioning government and her personal participation efforts were to use her knowledge and skills in communication in the service of such good governance. While her last role was at the BCSTA Jean also stressed the role that her early career in journalism was a cornerstone of good public governance. Scholarships will be paid directly to the student’s recognized post-secondary or skills and careers training institution. The scholarship recipients will be notified in late May or early June via email and their name(s) will be posted on BCSTA’s website.  Criteria:  exemplary citizenship within their school and/or community.
