Student Voice and Student Perspectives Around Connectedness
Spirals of Inquiry is a powerful approach to engage in conversations with student focus groups, which can help our school community to better understand the needs, interests and perspectives of our students. This process is grounded in the idea that students are partners in their own learning, and that their voices and perspectives are essential in shaping our educational practices.
As we move forward, we have been regularly checking in with our students and gathering their feedback. By listening to their ideas and perspectives, we can create a more inclusive, engaging, and impactful learning environment for all.
With our first check in with student focus groups, we asked student perspectives/feedback around Community and Connections. Here are some of the questions that we asked our student focus groups.
Have you made a connection with a teacher at the school? Is there someone you feel comfortable talking to if you having a problem?
Where in the school do you eat your lunch or hang out at breaks in-between classes?
Do you have any advice for the school staff as we welcome new students to the school?
On a scale of 1-10 how are you feeling about being connected to our school community?
What could we as staff do to improve your connections with our school community?
We look forward in continuing this journey with our students and asking for more their feedback and perspectives in the coming months.
