The holidays are almost here and foods students at Palmer have been busy baking, assembling, and decorating their gingerbread houses! Students were given a choice of 5 original house patterns to choose from but have made each their own through their use of candy, icing, and other creative additions to the houses. Themes featured range from fun and whimsical to scary and haunted gingerbread houses. Here are a few photos of students working away and of the display at the front of the school.
Palmer student Bonnie Zhang recently competed in a semi finalist competition for the very prestigious Loran Scholarship (which regularly has about 3000 applicants in Canada.) This included a FULL day (8am-4pm) of various "interviews" at UBC.
Of the 29 semi-finalists who interviewed in BC, she was one of seven selected to go the finals in Toronto February 6- 7. There she will face off with the top 76 applicants for the 30 full scholarships which pay out between $40,000 to $50,000. In getting this far, she already has earned a $3000 Loran Scholarship which values character, service and leadership.
Palmer's Student Council made this fantastic video to spread awareness about this year's Holiday Hope Campaign!
