Friday, February 16 marked the day commemorating months and months of hardwork entwined with blood, sweat, tears and injuries. RC Palmer Dance Squad hosted its 12th Annual Hip Hop Dance Competition, FOOTLOOSE. This year's competition featured 33 dance teams from all over BC (we even had a team all the way from Armstrong!), 4 showcase performances, 6 professional industry judges, a freestyle competition and a packed gym! The energy and buzz that was in the air was nothing short of electrifying. As each dance team took to the stage, the audience was left mesmerized by the amount of hard work, talent and passion that flowed. Many Palmer Alumni were present to volunteer in the form of emcees, hype crew, sound technicians, photographers, etc. A huge thank you to all the Palmer Staff, Alumni, judges (Angela Lowndes, Toni Shenfield, Cezar Tantoco, Jeremy Delos Santos, Roberta Bierman and Jane Marlinga), First Aid attendants from St. John Ambulance and showcase performers (A3 District Ryderz, DIME from Fresh Grove studios and UBC’s Project U&G) for their time and dedication to the success of this event and Trustee Ken Hamaguchi, Eric Yung and Debbie Tablotney and Assistant Superintendent Wendy Lim for representing the Richmond Board of Education. And last, but not least, a huge thank you to all the competing teams, their sponsor teachers, friends and families for attending. We look forward to having you at Footloose 2019 on February 22!
