PALMER MATH TEAMS SUCCESSFUL AT SFU COMPETITION

PALMER MATH TEAMS SUCCESSFUL AT SFU COMPETITION

This past Saturday, February 17th, Palmer's Junior Math teams competed at the 2018 Lower Mainland Regional MathChallengers tournament at Simon Fraser University atop snowy Burnaby Mountain. It was a very successful day, as our Grade 9 team came in first, and our Grade 10 team came in second in their respective pools. Thus, both teams qualify for the provincial finals at UBC in April. Meanwhile, our Grade 8 team is waiting to hear if it will qualify for a wildcard spot.

Individual standouts at this weekend's competition were Erik To in Grade 8; Alvin Ge and Kevin Yan on the Grade 9 team (with Kevin coming in first in the individual buzzer round); and Jonathan Cao, Jonah Chen and Ethan Chen on the Grade 10 team. Congratulations and kudos to all the Math teams, as well as to the student coaches and volunteers who helped out at the tournament. The full complement of team members and coaches are as follows:
